Overview:
Clash at Demonhead is a popular band from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. After watching the film and exploring the comics, I was inspired to redesign their brand identity to better reflect the energy and aesthetic of their music.
Demonhead Concept:
Designed to align with today’s punk-pop and alt-rock scene while resonating with Gen Z youth. This new visual era was developed to support the launch of their debut album, with a complete identity system spanning album artwork, tour visuals, and merchandise to create a bold, cohesive brand presence.

01. Brand Renaming
To start the logo redesign, I decided to modernize the band’s name from Clash at Demonhead to simply Demonhead. This change streamlines the brand, making it more impactful, memorable, and marketable.
Many successful contemporary bands have short, punchy names that are easier to recognize and visually stronger in branding. Dropping “The Clash At” removes unnecessary complexity while keeping the essence of the band’s identity.
02. Moodboard and First Drafts
The typography mood board highlights a symmetrical motif, grunge textures, and sharp, angular serifs. I noticed a consistent balance in letterforms, with exaggerated serifs adding a bold, dynamic edge. The grunge elements enhance the raw, distressed aesthetic, reinforcing the band's rebellious energy which is what I carried over to my first few sketches.

03. Feedback and Revisions
After critiques, I stuck with the first rendition as it was the most legible. I enlarged the horns on the "D" for a more dramatic look and balanced it by exaggerating the top of the "N." On the left, I added another set of horns, while on the right, I experimented with a pair of eyes. I chose the fifth variation and designed two secondary logomarks: a butterfly icon using the "D"’s outer curves and the "N"’s eyes, and a Demonhead combining the horns and eyes and it was finally time to transfer this to Adobe Illustrator and vectorize it.

04. Vectors and 3D Renders
Moving from Procreate on my iPad to Adobe Illustrator and Dimension and simplified and smoothed the paths to make the typograpghy and icons more streamlined and clean. I still wanted to keep the original characteristics of the hand-drawn type so I didn’t alter much to keep it unique. Then on Adobe Dimension I was able to add a metallic texture and adjust the lighting to render it out.

I carried over the black-and-white stencil-style from the back of the album cover when I created this digital photo college and then created two poster drafts. I went with the second one because putting it next to the other deliverables it is the most cohesive.

Instagram Page and Promotional Story
Demonhead’s Instagram carries the same design system. Their secondary logo is their profile picture. Their posts are a mix of promotional posts highlighting their tour, merchandise and website. They also post picture of their band members mostly their lead member, Envy Adams.
Their promotional stories follow the same design system. The same textures, color palettes, assets and fonts.
Final Redesign Presentation Case Study
The presentation attached below is my final presentation for my Senior Capstone class which I also designed. This redesign is 1 of 2 bands from the Scott Pilgrim Franchise I worked on for the class. If you’re interested in viewing a full presentation and the Redesign for Sex Bob-Omb Click Here.
